Emerging from Toronto's vibrant music scene, Doghouse Orchestra is a collective that has captivated audiences with their genre defying sound. The group has become a staple at the iconic venue The Cameron House, where they take the stage every Sunday. Led by bassist Matt Coldwell, the band weaves through a variety of styles and improvisations, crafting a sonic experience unique to each performance. Their fusion of gospel, funk and country offers a sound both timeless and irresistibly modern.
The 8 piece ensemble has toured across Canada playing many of the biggest festival stages and venues including Mariposa Folk Festival, Ness Creek, North Country Fair and South Country Fair. Their multifaceted performances radiate the pure joy of making music, ultimately breaking the barrier between audience and performer. Equipt with multiple singers, horns, strings and percussion the orchestra is sure to get your feet moving and carry you through an unforgettable musical journey.
For over two years the Sunday night residency at The Cameron House has created a space for musicians, artists, live music fans and night owls. Spontaneous collaborations between guest musicians offers an exclusive experience each week and showcases the true diversity of the band. This late night Queen Street ritual has become an integral part of the musical culture of Toronto, offering a constant sanctuary for artists to connect and let loose.
Doghouse Orchestra released their debut recordings in 2023 with 6 digital singles recorded at Bengal Cat Studios. The band will soon unveil live recordings from their residency and is currently working on material for their first full length album. Stay tuned for an exciting future ahead.
